Auckland Council’s “CBD into the future” strategy outlines areas for improvement in CBD strategy making.
SGS reviewed the strategy against other plans in comparable international cities, including Melbourne, Sydney, Vancouver, San Francisco and Dublin.
The review developed an overarching assessment framework against which future Auckland City strategies and plans could be assessed and identify areas for future improvement.
The assessment framework considered the structure, organisation, content, supporting analysis, and implementation framework for each city plan analysed. All city policies were assigned a grade that helped inform recommendations for future iterations of CBD planning in Auckland, ensuring Auckland’s strategic planning aligns with international best practices.
