Aotearoa New Zealand
We're working in Aotearoa New Zealand to help communities plan for a future that’s sustainable, inclusive, and uniquely their own.
We're expanding our presence in Aotearoa New Zealand to support improved housing, urban planning, and public policy outcomes.
Building on decades of experience in infrastructure, housing, and regional development projects across the country, we’re now working more intentionally on the ground through our long-time collaborator, Paul Howorth. With deep expertise in urban policy, Indigenous development and impact investment, Paul is leading our place-based approach to help tackle housing challenges, strengthen local economies and shape sustainable, inclusive communities.

Skills lab: Making the case with cost benefit analysis
Across all levels of government, cost benefit analysis is the preferred method for evaluating the merit of initiatives. If your project relies on government funding, approvals or regulatory changes, you may need to undertake, commission or review a cost benefit analysis.
We run half-day courses that introduce you to and practice the skills needed in cost benefit analysis. You’ll learn how to use it to assess and demonstrate the value of projects.
What’s covered
- Introduction to cost benefit analysis
- Key steps to performing a cost benefit analysis
- How to measure and moentise (value) costs and benefits
- How to compare future costs and benefits with current day values
- Calculating and interpreting cost benefit metrics such as Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit-Cost Ration (BCR), and Return on Investment (ROI)
- Managing and addressing uncertainty
- Incorporating social equity and non-monetised items
- Understanding the limitations and how to navigate them
This course includes an overview of cost benefit analysis, plus real-life case studies covering improved service delivery, infrastructure provision, and regulatory reform.
