Bass Coast Shire Council
Bass Coast Shire Council is planning for long-term growth in San Remo with a Structure Plan shaped over more than three years of technical work and community engagement.
At its core is a simple question: how do we ensure the right level of growth and infrastructure is in place to support people’s daily lives?
Community infrastructure plays a critical role in this. It includes the spaces and services people rely on every day, from parks and recreation facilities to health services, education, and libraries. Getting this right is essential to creating places that are liveable, connected and resilient over time.
SGS was engaged by Bass Coast Shire Council to assess current and future demand for community infrastructure in San Remo, and to identify where investment is needed to support a growing population. We undertook a detailed review of existing facilities across the catchment, alongside an analysis of current and projected population demographic trends.
This work was strengthened through engagement with local service providers, helping to test assumptions and refine the direction of recommendations. The result was a clear, evidence-based set of priorities for infrastructure investment, including short, medium and long-term actions, supported by high-level costings and grounded in best practice and value for money.
This work helped ensure that community infrastructure is not an afterthought, but a central part of planning for San Remo’s future.
