Infrastructure Australia
Sydney, Melbourne
Land use scenarios help Infrastructure Australia assess the performance of long-term growth for Sydney and Melbourne.
We worked with Infrastructure Australia to develop land use scenarios at the small area level for Sydney and Melbourne. Three different scenarios for employment and housing were prepared for each city.
This work included mapping future planned transport corridors and providing spatial data on housing and employment. The land use scenarios were tested in a transport model to compare outcomes relative to a base case or reference case.
Our work informed Infrastructure Australia's Reform Series Paper Future Cities: Planning for our Growing Population which provides advice to Australian governments on improving the productivity and liveability of Australia's largest cities as they grow over the next 30 years.
Our in-depth land use analysis - and advice on overall city structures for Sydney and Melbourne - provides thought leadership on the importance of long-term strategic planning, integration of land use and transport and cost management.
We worked with Six Degrees Urban on this project.
