Georges River Council
The Georges River Community Infrastructure Strategy delivers a data-driven roadmap to close infrastructure gaps and meet community needs through 2036.
The Georges River Community Infrastructure Needs Assessment and Acquisition Area Strategy analysed current and future supply and demand for open space and key community infrastructure through 2036 to identify gaps.
SGS worked with Georges River Council to develop an Open Space Expansion and Acquisition Plan. This Plan outlined detailed insights into the needs, gaps, and future direction for open spaces, community centres, libraries, sport and recreation facilities, athletics, and aquatic facilities to meet the current and future needs of the Georges River community.
To develop this Plan, the team conducted a current supply and demand assessment, which included demographic analysis, an audit of existing facilities, and benchmarking. This is being undertaken at a precinct level as well as a broader municipal level. With the identification of gaps, the team is working through an achievable acquisition target, funding models, and opportunities for colocation and or repurposing to achieve outcomes.
A key output of this was the accessibility analysis (both pedestrian and drive) to identify areas lacking infrastructure and assess the suitability of asset types based on various factors. By layering these results, the team pinpointed priority locations for new assets to address community needs.
