Greater Cities Commission
Industrial lands, also known as employment lands, are critical in driving economic activity by supporting the production of goods and services, facilitating innovation and accommodating diverse industries.
These lands are essential to metropolitan and regional functions, requiring careful socioeconomic consideration and strategic planning to ensure they remain viable and adaptable to evolving demands.
Considering recent economic shifts, SGS Economics and Planning partnered with the Greater Cities Commission to assess industrial lands' current landscape and competitive dynamics in the Six Cities Region.
Spatial profiling and data analysis of employment regions provided valuable insights into the evolving demands on industrial lands, which informed the Region Plan and the future of industrial land policy. This work, delivered via a strong visual narrative, aims to better guide industrial land policy to support sustainable economic growth, innovation, and resilience.
