Ambitious study helps shape central Sydney’s economic development for the next 50 years.

We worked with Urban Growth NSW on the Central to Eveleigh Economic Study to develop the Eveleigh corridor’s economy in central Sydney over the next 50 years.

Our team studied the demographic, employment and economic development directions for the Central to Eveleigh study area in central Sydney. This area extends from the southern tip of Sydney’s CBD through to the terraced inner-west suburb of Erskineville.

The study helped Urban Growth NSW to understand key industries and demand drivers for economic growth within the area. It outlines three possible development scenarios based on an analysis of broad trends, industry growth and existing capacity, as well as a series of strategies and actions that can help to shape the development of the area over the next 50 years.

“The analysis has been valuable to our planning by providing a detailed industry profile of the area and outlining suggestions for how to further support future economic development in the area. We asked SGS to be ambitious in their thinking and their report suggests activities to help build the economy, from small interventions to very ambitious ideas requiring significant investment. While not all of the ideas may be possible as part of this project, they have helped us to appreciate and understand the nature of current industries and future possibilities.”
