Employment and population projections help to inform transport services across regional Victoria.
We worked with the Victorian Department of Transport to conduct an in-depth study of current employment and population projections for regional Victoria. These projections helped the Department to understand future land use patterns to inform regional Victoria’s transport modelling. Critical data was fed into the Department’s Victorian Integrated Transport Model.
Many factors were included in the projections, including:
- employment growth in the inner city
- datasets on economic trends, population and dwelling growth, and
- land supply constraints.
There are roughly 5,000 travel zones in Victoria and our projections covered various demographic breakdowns, as well as educational enrolment and employment forecasts.
